Cat breed - A cat breed is an infrasubspecific rank for the classification of domestic cats. A cat is considered to be of a certain cat breed if it is true breeding for the traits that define that breed.
Pedigree (cat) - A pedigreed cat is a cat that has its ancestry recorded and tracked by a major cat registry. The number of generations required varies from breed to breed, but all pedigreed cats have papers from the registering body that attest to its ancestry.
